William Holder Rushton, 77 of Springfield, PA died peacefully on Saturday, April 23 on the eve of Divine Mercy Sunday during the Octave of Easter.
Bill leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 55 years, Christine (nee Earley); their daughter, Jacqueline Gill (John) and grandsons, Jack and Egan; and their son, William H. Rushton, Jr. (Nicholena) and grandchildren, Sophia and William.
When Bill entered a room, you knew it. Always a smile, a booming voice, a firm handshake, a funny joke, a witty phrase. If you needed something done, you called Bill. He was fiercely loyal, loved his family deeply, and with perseverance faced every obstacle with Christine at his side.
A life-long resident of the Springfield community and parishioner of St. Kevin’s Church. After serving in U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Enterprise, he began his sales career, and went on to own J&B Motors for over 52 years. He was a fixture in the Springfield Republican Party, canvassing for candidates to working the polls. He loved spending time with his family, especially summer vacations in Avalon, New Jersey.
He leaves behind a sister-in-Law, Dorothy Rushton; brother, John Rushton (Geri); brothers-in-law: Christopher Earley (Jospehine), James Earley (Katherine), Thomas Earley (Karen), Harold Earley (Denise); sister-in-law, Patricia Earley; a son, David Leary (Deb); and many well-loved friends, nieces, and nephews.
Bill is predeceased by his parents, Robert C. Rushton and Gertrude (nee O’Connell); sisters, Gail Metz and Nancy Ford; brother, Robert C. Rushton, Jr.
