William Dougherty Obituary

William A. Dougherty, 85 of Media, PA passed away on June 2, 2022. Beloved son of Charles and Margaret (Glessner) Dougherty. Husband of Rosemary (McGranery) Dougherty. Graduate of West Catholic High School for Boys. He served three years in the U.S.Army and was honorably discharged. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from LaSalle College (now University), a Master of Arts degree from St. Joseph's College (now University). He taught Social Studies at Tilden Middle School, John Bartram High School. He became Department Head of Social Studies at Strawberry Mansion High School. He later transferred as Department Head of Social Studies to John Bartram High School from which he retired. He enjoyed traveling to Europe and Australia. He read extensively about the Native American Indians.

His parents pre-deceased him, as well as his brothers Charles, John, Edward, and Samuel Mutz. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, and his brother Joseph (Pete) and many nieces and nephews.  

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Monday June 13, 2022 6pm, O'Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Rd., Springfield, PA 19064 and Tuesday 9:30am St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N. Providence Rd., Media, PA 19063.  Funeral Mass 10:30am Tuesday in the Church.  Burial SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery. Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville FL 32256.
