Virginia “Ginny” O’Keefe Kann Obituary

Virginia “Ginny” Mary O’Keefe Kann, 77, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2020.  Born March 30, 1943, in Washington, DC, she was the beloved daughter of the late J Barry O’Keefe and Bette B O’Keefe, and the sister of Barbara Hiffman (Dennis). Ginny was raised in Oak Park, IL, and graduated from the all-girls’ Catholic Trinity High School in River Forest. IL before attending Barry College in Miami, FL.  She was the proud mom of Julie Kelly (Tim) and Lawrence “Lee” Kann who predeceased his mother.  She delighted in her grandchildren Ciara Kelly, Catherine “Catie” Kelly and Morgan Kelly.

Ginny had a devoted fondness for shopping, all things Irish, and vacations at the Sea View Hotel in Bal Harbour, Florida,along with the cherished friends she made during her years in Illinois, New York, and Florida. She will be best remembered for her fun loving, gregarious, and always generous nature.  Ginny was a devout Catholic, Eucharistic minister and was known to all those who loved her for her philanthropic and humanitarian volunteer work sharing her time and talents while serving as everything from Girl Scout leader to dedicating countless hours to Misericordia, Caritas and various Catholic charities.  Family was her most important focus leading her to foster the love and traditions that will continue in her memory.

Ginny's love and commitment to the Little Sisters of the Poor were enriched by her later years while entrusted to the loving care of Holy Family Home, Little Sisters of the Poor.  Her kind soul, giving heart, beautiful smile, and selfless spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation Wednesday, November 11, 2020, 10am St. Anastasia Church, 3301 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA, 19073, followed by her Funeral Mass 11am in the Church.
