Verdelma E. (Cole) Litty

Verdelma E. Litty (nee Cole) passed away peacefully in her home on May 7, 2025 at the age of 97 where she lived with her daughter in Audubon, PA.  Formerly of Southwest Philadelphia and Stratford, NJ, she was born in Galena, MD on December 21, 1927 to the late Frank and Elizabeth Cole.  She grew up in Galena and Chestertown, MD with her three sisters, Frances, Helen, and Margaret (Peggy), all of whom are deceased. Verdelma moved to Philadelphia in 1952 with her husband the late George Litty.

Verdelma was the loving Mother to George Litty (Maryann), Linda Litty Connor (Thomas), Charles Litty (the late Shirley) and the late Charlie Litty; cherished Grandmother to April, Michael, Katrina, Heather, Holly, Paul, Daniel, Lisa, Stephen, Timothy and the late Charles Michael Jr.; loving Great Grandmother to 18 great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Verdelma loved spending time with her family.  She especially enjoyed watching the antics of her numerous great grandchildren.  Even with such a large family, she would never forget a birthday, always sending a card and check. You would often find Verdelma relaxing in her favorite chair with her feet propped up, doing a puzzle or playing her handheld poker game, while snacking on her favorite jelly beans.  She loved reading autobiographies, listening to country music, and watching Judge Judy and Mama’s Family reruns.  She would never say no to a game of Skip Bo or five hundred rummy. Verdelma was a kind, thoughtful, caring woman who was loved by so many and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation Tuesday, May 27, 11:00am O’Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Rd Springfield, PA 19064 and to her Funeral Service 12pm in the Funeral Home.  Burial will be at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Verdelma’s name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the American Cancer Society.
