Vera A. Costanzo, 92, of Aston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on August 31, 2025.
Born on January 7, 1933, in Philadelphia, PA, Vera was the youngest of ten children of the late Rose and Domenic Piperno. She graduated from South Philadelphia High School, where her classmates voted her “Most Likely to Be a Dancing Secretary.”
Vera was a devoted member of Holy Cross Parish in Springfield for over 50 years. She worked at Cardinal O’Hara High School as a beloved cafeteria server for twenty years, where she brought joy to countless students with her warm spirit and welcoming smile.
Vera lived each day to the fullest. She loved to laugh and was known for her contagious, mischievous smile and incredible sense of humor. She had a kind heart, a beautiful soul, and a passion for cooking. She was lovingly known as the Pizzelle and Chocolate Chip Queen, and a master chef—especially at Thanksgiving, when her escarole soup, stuffing, pies, and her famous meatballs and gravy took center stage.
Her favorite moments were often spent with a hot cup of tea, Frank Sinatra playing in the background, and her favorite soaps—The Young and the Restless and General Hospital—on the TV. But nothing brought her more happiness than being surrounded by family at parties, birthdays, holidays, and celebrations of all kinds.
Vera was the beloved wife of the late Pasquale Costanzo Jr.; loving mother to Patti Brown (Mike), Michael Costanzo (Rhonda), and Carol Willey (Norm); cherished Mom-Mom to Michael Costanzo Jr. (Lauren), Ashley Costanzo (Derek White), Christopher Brown (Meghan), Amie Graham (Danny), Kelly Noll (Jimmy), Ryan Brown (Claire), and Patrick Willey; proud Mom-Mom/GiGi to great-grandchildren Michael Costanzo III, Jack and Brady Brown, DJ and Lucca White, Bailey, Brody, and Logan Graham, and Juliette and Rose Noll. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 9:30 AM at Holy Cross Church, 651 E. Springfield Rd., Springfield, PA 19064, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM in the Church. Interment will follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
