Thomas Francis Xavier Furlong Jr. age 99, of Glenolden, PA, passed away on October 4, 2024 surrounded by the love of his family and caretakers. Married June 6th 1953 to Millie Furlong (late), to whom he was happily married to for nearly 70 years. He was born to Thomas and Marie (Waugh) Furlong on September 24, 1925 and raised in South West Philadelphia where he attended school and graduated from West Catholic High School in 1943. Tom then joined the Navy at 17 years old and became a WWII veteran. He lived in the Briarcliffe section of Glenolden, with his wife Millie, where they raised 6 children. Tom was a devout Catholic and life-long member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. His strong work-ethic allowed him a 40-year term at ARCO as a chemical operator, as well as a bartender at the Riddle Ale House for many years. His hobbies included reading, bowling and golf. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, especially for the Eagles and Phillies. Tom lived a life full of vitality with a great sense of humor that naturally put others at ease. He loved his large family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them at many celebrations and occasions. As a lovingly devoted husband, father, and pop-pop his wisdom, generosity, and character continues to inspire his family and will be deeply missed by his children Thomas (Kathleen, late) (Diane), Paul (late), Diane, Lori (Joe), Marie (John), Jennifer, and his loving grandchildren Jena (late), Ashley, Shawn, Dana, Gina, Alex, Kelly, Joey, MaryKate, Nikki, John, Tom, Alexa, Brooke, Kate, Carly and great grandchildren Andrew, Keira, Greta, Sophia, Lucy, and Teddy, his brother-in-law Anthony (Marie) and their 6 sons, and by his neighbors, friends, and all who knew him. Tom’s love will be carried in the hearts of his family forever.

A Viewing and Mass of Christian burial was held on October 9, 2024 at Our Lady of Fatima Church and burial followed at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
