Susan D. (Carey) Vernacchio, 73, of Collingdale, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 29, 2022.
Sue is predeceased by her parents, Patrick and Mary (Morris) Carey and her siblings, Patricia Gerber, John Carey, and William Carey. She was born in Philadelphia, PA. She worked as a DRG Coder at Fitz for 35 years while raising her family. She loved taking trips to Atlantic City with her husband, dancing, singing, fashion, and filet mignon.
Sue’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She was most proud of her titles of wife, Mom, and Gram. Married for 58 years, Sue adored her husband, Frank, and the life that they created together. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with her whole heart, and was sure to always keep them laughing.
Sue was known for her sense of humor. She made everyone around her laugh, sometimes intentionally, sometimes just being who she was. Sue truly had a way with words. Always dressed to the nines, she had an incredible sense of style. You never knew what hair color she was going to have, but she never had a hair out of place. Sue was truly one of a kind. She was a tiny woman with a big presence. Her personality, contagious laughter, and smile will be missed by everyone that knew and loved her.
Beloved wife of Francis J. "Frank" Vernacchio, Jr.; Loving Mother of Lisa (Thomas) Radico, Dolores (Michael) Marconi, Susan, Frankie (Tammy) and Stephen Vernacchio (Bridget Moran); Cherished Grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Also survived by her siblings, Elizabeth "Betsy" (the late John) Lenzi and Richard (Pam) Carey. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
