Rosemary T. (McGranery) Dougherty, 97 of Media, PA passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late William A. Dougherty his "bride". She was the daughter of the late Cornelius and Isabelle (O'Donnell) McGranery. Rosemary graduated from West Catholic Girls' High School, where she was a member of the Reaper Staff and a member of the basketball team of which she was named by the coaches to the first all-Catholic basketball team. She then played basketball at Chestnut Hill College, followed by Ford and Kendig, a pro basketball club.
In 1940 she won the Philadelphia recreation's gymnastic medal and in 1941 was the city's champion freestyle swimmer. In 1950 she was awarded a Bachelor's of Arts degree from Chestnut Hill College followed by a Master of Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Rosemary worked 36 years for the School District of Philadelphia at Tilden Junior High School and retired as a Guidance Counselor at John Bartram High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, her parents and her brother and sisters Neal, Isabel and Beatrice. She is survived by her devoted brother-in-law, Pete, and memorable nieces and nephews.

Springfield Road Springfield, PA 19064 and Monday, December 30, 2024 9:30am St. Mary Magdalen Church, 2400 N. Providence Road Media, PA 19063. Funeral Mass Monday 10:30am in the Church. Int.
