Rose Mary Fitzpatrick Obituary

Rose Mary “Posie” Fitzpatrick, age 91, passed away suddenly at home on February 17, 2025. A beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Posie’s warmth and kindness touched all who knew her. She lived a life full of love and is leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories and an enduring spirit that will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

Posie was married to Joseph Duross Fitzpatrick (deceased May 2000), for 41 years, building a home filled with love, laughter, and strong family and neighborhood connections. She was a devoted sister to Ginny Kelly, Fran Jack, and Betty Ziter, and now finds eternal peace alongside her husband, parents, and her dear sisters Janet O’Rourke, Joan Ciaburri, and Marie Merkel.

A proud and loving mother, Posie’s greatest joy was her family. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy in her children: Virginia “Ginny” Fitzpatrick DiMarco (Frederick “Chip” DiMarco Jr.) and their children Sean Fitzpatrick DiMarco and Margaret Rose “Maggie” DiMarco, Martin Joseph “G” Fitzpatrick (Elizabeth “Betsy” Voltz Fitzpatrick) and their children Sara Jane Fitzpatrick Perez (Fernando Perez) and John Philip "Jack" Fitzpatrick, William “Bill” Fitzpatrick, Kathryn "Kathy" Rose Peterson (nee Fitzpatrick) and her children Cameron Duross “Cam” Peterson Thorson (Johanna Tara Thomas Thorson), Tara Rose Peterson Mc Grory (David Paul Mc Grory), and Alec John Peterson, Margaret “Betsy” Elizabeth Fitzpatrick (Luc Esterson) and their children Henry Robert Fitzpatrick Esterson, Kathryn “Kate” Marcelle Fitzpatrick Esterson, and Jillian “Jill” Virginia Fitzpatrick Esterson, Thomas Michael “Tom” Fitzpatrick, Francis Paul “Frank” Fitzpatrick (Janice Reith Fitzpatrick) and their children Jason Reith Fitzpatrick, Ryan James Fitzpatrick, and Erin June Fitzpatrick, and John Daniel Fitzpatrick (Kelly Hamilton Fitzpatrick) and their children Charlotte Gayle Fitzpatrick, Graham Wilson Fitzpatrick, and Nathaniel Henry Fitzpatrick. Her love extended to the next generation as well, as she adored her two great-grandchildren, Sofia Elizabeth Perez and Sienna Barbara Perez. Posie’s family was her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Born on August 21, 1933, in New Haven, Connecticut, Posie was raised in Hamden in a lively and loving home with her parents, Frank William Flood and Rose Clark Flood (née Corbett), and her six loving sisters. She graduated from Hamden High School in 1951 before continuing her education at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, earning her degree in Oral Hygiene in 1954, where she met her husband Joe. Posie enjoyed a decades-long career in the dental field, bringing warmth and kindness to those she served while forming lifelong friendships along the way.

A true social butterfly, Posie thrived on bringing people together, creating a welcoming home that was the heart of her family. She volunteered with the League of Women Voters and had a passion for the arts, enjoyed movies with neighbors, classical music, decorating, and sewing. Her hobbies included annual trips to Cape Cod, jigsaw puzzles, playing Words with Friends with her sisters and savoring her Sunday New York Times.

She was the center of her family and her love and sense of fun included many happy times with her sisters' families. Her legacy of warmth, love, and connection continues to inspire all who knew her.

Visitation and Service will be held at the O’Leary Funeral Home on Monday, February 24, 2025, 640 E. Springfield Rd., Springfield, PA 19064.
