Ronald A. Benedict

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Ron A. Benedict, 75, of Springfield, PA. Deeply mourned, he died surrounded by his family on June 2, 2024 – his 51st wedding anniversary to his cherished high school sweetheart.

Ron served in the US Marines and the Navy Reserves. He was a hard worker who dedicated his time and effort to many endeavors. He was a union worker for Wonder/Hostess for over 30 years, taking on many duties at the plant, including line production and forklift operations. He was a Parish member and former part-time custodian of Holy Cross. He was a former landscaper who enjoyed working on his lawn and gardens. Never one to sit back in retirement, he continued working part time at Boscov’s in the shipping and receiving department.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He greatly enjoyed visiting Atlantic City with his wife. They loved seeing shows, listening to live music, and dinners at the buffet. A true foodie, Ron thought every tasty morsel was “the best bite he ever had.” A dedicated and compassionate Pop-Pop, he made many memories with his 3 loving grandchildren, including vacations, day trips, sleepovers, days spent babysitting, and a recent Disney cruise together.

Beloved husband of Rita, the loving father of Christine, Ron Jr. (Courtney), and Kimberly (Jason), and cherished Pop-Pop to Dominic, Giuliana, and Alexandria. He was predeceased by his mother Virginia, father Park, and sister Karen. He was the loving son- in-law of Frank and Mary Maccario.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Thursday, June 6, 2024, 6:00 PM, at O’Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Road, Springfield, PA 19064, and Friday, June 7, 2024, 10 AM-11 AM in the Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 AM at Holy Cross Church, 651 E. Springfield Road, Springfield, PA 19064. Interment: SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
