Robert Millison, Sr. Obituary

Robert J. “Bob” Millison, Sr., 88, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026.

Bob never met a stranger—only a friend he hadn’t met yet. Through good times and challenging moments alike, he was a steady presence, never letting friends or family walk alone. If you knew him, you loved him.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the beloved son of the late William and Margaret Millison. At a young age, Bob proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War Era. Following his service, he later earned his High School Diploma. He dedicated many years to PECO, where he worked as a lineman, electrician, and nuclear power technician. Following his retirement, he continued serving his community through his work with the Upper Darby School District.

Bob was a devoted member of Saint Francis and Holy Cross Parishes. He had a deep love for youth sports and coached football in the Holy Cross, Westbrook Park, and Clifton Heights youth leagues. A Fourth Degree Knight, he was highly active in the Knights of Columbus and served as president of the De LaSalle Swim Club.

Family was at the heart of Bob’s life. He cherished time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and found great joy in watching them compete and succeed. His adventurous spirit carried him across the world, with memorable travels including the 2012 Olympics in England, the Lacrosse World Cup in Israel, and trips to Alaska, Australia, Ireland, and many destinations across the United States.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine (Finn) Millison. He is survived by his loving children: Robert J. (Theresa; predeceased by Michelle) Millison, Catherine (Joseph) McCullough, Theresa (Daniel) Smyth, and Colleen (Doug) Popplewell. He was the cherished grandfather of Joseph, Chris, and William McCullough; Bobby Millison; Tina Donahue; Daniel, Patrick, and Kaylee Smyth; Douglas and David Popplewell.

Bob is also survived by his siblings George, Kitty, Delores, and Rosemary, and was predeceased by his brothers Billy and Jimmy. He will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 PM at O’Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Rd., Springfield, PA 19064, and again Friday morning at 9:30 AM at St. Francis Church, 136 Saxer Ave., Springfield, PA 19064. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
