Dr. Paul E. Oberkircher, 90, of Malvern, PA, passed away peacefully at his home on March 5,2024. Paul was born September 18, 1933, the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Oscar Oberkircher of Buffalo, NY. Beloved husband of Kathleen; Loving Father to David (Kathleen), Douglas (Evelyn), Paul Jr. (Lisa) and Peter (Beth Ann) Oberkircher, and Kimberly (Patrick) Devlin and James (Samantha) McQuillan; Cherished Grandfather to Katie (Martin), Maggie, David, Arianna, Olivia, Eva, Anastasia, Philip, Andrew and Cecilia Oberkircher; Michaela, Amelia and Patrick Devlin, and Charlotte McQuillan; and Great-Grandfather to Holly Marie King. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and more. He is predeceased by his mother and father, his twin brother David, his brother Oscar, and his son David.
Paul graduated from Princeton University in 1955 and received his Medical Degree with honors conferred by the Alpha Omega Alpha medical society at the Jacob’s School of Medicine at the University of Buffalo in 1959. He specialized in Radiology and was on the staff at several hospitals throughout his career, including Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo. He served in the Army and was stationed at Irwin Army Hospital in Fort Riley Kansas. After leaving the military, he took a teaching position on the faculty of The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. In 1968, he formed the Radiology Department at the newly-constructed Paoli Memorial Hospital, where he had a long notable career, serving as Chief of Staff and Chief of Radiology.
He retired in 1996 and enjoyed spending time with his wife of 42 years, Kathleen, his children and grandchildren, as well as golfing and traveling.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation, Friday March 8, 2024, 9:15AM at SS. Peter and Paul Church, 1325 Boot Road West Chester, PA 19380 and to his Funeral Mass 10:30 AM in the Church.
