Patrick J. Purcell, 96, of Drexel Hill, PA passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024.
Patrick was the son of the late Patrick and Margaret (Walsh) Purcell and was born in Philadelphia PA. He graduated from St. Thomas More High School and St. Joseph’s University.
He was a longtime and active member of St. Alice Parish in Upper Darby, where he served as a lector, Eucharistic Minister and at numerous other parish activities. He later was also an active member of Holy Cross Parish in Springfield. Patrick was also a dedicated and long time member of both the St. Thomas More Alumni Association and the Malvern Retreat House. He enjoyed watching his children’s sporting events and other activities, and was a devout Philadelphia sports fan. He took great pride in his Irish heritage.
Patrick was predeceased by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Ann (Devine); devoted father of Dennis (Leslie), Michael (the late Karen), Catherine (Ed) Stankiewicz, Terrence (Kristin) and the late Patrick. Cherished grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Loving father-in-law of Maggie. Brother of James, and deceased siblings Margaret, John, Joseph and Francis.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Wed. December 11, 2024 9:30am Holy Cross Church, 651 E. Springfield Rd. Springfield, PA 19064 and to his Funeral Mass 11:30am in the Church. Int.
