Millie (Ricciardi) Furlong

Millie (Ricciardi) Furlong, age 95, of Glenolden, PA, passed away on May 14th 2023 surrounded by the love of her family.

Married June 6th 1953 to Thomas F. Furlong, to whom she was married to for 70 years. She was born to Luigi and Giovanna Ricciardi on April 22, 1928 and raised in South Philadelphia where she attended school and graduated South Philadelphia High School for Girls. She was the sister of three brothers, Anthony (Marie), John (Ida, late) and the late Dominic. She lived in the Briarcliffe section of Glenolden, with her husband Tom, where she raised 6 children. She was a devout Catholic and life-long member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish.

Millie was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She found the most joy in her roles as a Mom to her 6 children and Grandmother to her 16 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Her maternal nature was admirable in her ability to always show up for any occasion that involved her children and grandchildren. The love for her family was always present in her ability to never forget a birthday, anniversary, or memorable date.

Millie enjoyed several work experiences including Whitman Chocolates, and the Defense Center in South Philadelphia from where she retired.

Millie was sweet, beautiful, humble and so kind. She was cherished and adored by her family and will be deeply missed by her husband Tom, her children Thomas (Kathleen, late), Paul (late), Diane, Lori (Joe), Marie (John), Jennifer, her loving grandchildren Jena (late), Ashley, Shawn, Dana, Gina, Alex, Kelly, Joey, MaryKate, Nikki, John, Tom, Alexa, Brooke, Kate, Carly and great grandchildren Andrew, Kiera, and Sophia. Millie will be greatly missed by her neighbors, friends, and all who knew her. Millie’s love will be carried in the hearts of her family forever.

A Viewing and Mass of Christian burial was held on May 20th 2023 at Our Lady of Fatima Church and burial followed at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
