Mignon Treherne, 63, of Philadelphia, PA passed away peacefully on September 27, 2020.
Mignon was the daughter of the late Bernard Alfred Treherne and Carolyn Treherne in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Penn Center Academy High School and studied at the Community College of Philadelphia. Her passion was dancing, as she studied classical ballet at the Judimar School of Dance, performing as a principal ballerina for several years. She continued to cultivate her love of dance and performance opening The Treherne Cultural Center in Southwest Phila, introducing ballet, jazz and improv to local youth to expand horizons and share her passion for dance. She attended St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in her youth. She loved spending time with her five children, sister, friends, grandchildren and pets. Her love for her grandchildren was unmatched as she enjoyed doting over them and spoiling them. She loved animals, spending time with her cats brought her joy daily. Her favorite thing to do was share love through family get togethers, spend quality time with her friends, most of which were her best friends since early childhood.
Beloved wife of the late Jerome Dorsey, partner to Mitchell Tousette for many years and best friend to Melvyn Clarke; Loving Mother to Marney (Frederick) Stauffer, Justin (Tameika) Dorsey, Aimeé Armstrong (Albert Baylor), Mignonne (Marvin) Brown and Jennifer Treherne; Cherished Grandmother to Albert, Suaad, Juwaireyah, U’waimir, Alexander, Layth, Avery, Mason, and Baaz. Also survived by her sister, Michele Treherne. She is predeceased by her mother Carolyn and father Bernard Alfred. She is also survived by many including her niece Monica (Greg) Smith, her uncle Clifton (Sharon) Moseley, her cousins, nieces, nephews and more.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor her at a memorial arranged by the family, details TBD.
