Michael C. McShane

Michael C. McShane, 85, of Upper Chichester, PA formerly of Collingdale, PA passed away peacefully on May 6, 2023 surrounded by his family.

Michael was the son of (the late) Charles and Elizabeth (McCluskey) McShane Aaron and Stepson of (the late) Samuel Aaron and was born in Philadelphia, PA. He was a 1956 graduate from West Catholic High School.  Prior to his retirement, he worked full time as a dedicated Temple University Police Officer serving for over 44 years.  During this time, he also took a temporary position with the Borough of Collingdale working weekends as a park security officer.  This temporary position lasted 47 years.  Michael loved the work he did and always took great pride in keeping the children under his watch safe whether they were playing in the community or learning on campus.    

He was a dedicated member of Saint Joseph's Parish in Collingdale and The Church of St Joseph in Aston.  He enjoyed spending time with his family at parties and on holidays often leading these events with a very special handwritten prayer.  He was an avid sports fan of the Temple Owls, Philadelphia Phillies, or any sports team his grandchildren were a part of.  He loved watching Jeopardy and enjoyed reading the dictionary discovering new words to add to his extensive vocabulary.  He always took great pride in seeing his families many accomplishments.  

Devoted husband of Catherine M. (Heenan); Loving father of Monica (Shawn) Payne, Michael (Phyllis) McShane, Joseph McShane, Mary Beth "Molly" (Robert) McGrath, and Sarah McShane; Cherished Grandfather to 16 Grandchildren and "G-Pop" to 14 great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by his daughter Claire, siblings Mary Witz, Loretta McShane, Elizabeth Roe, Catherine Miller, Charles McShane and Samuel Aaron and his grandchildren Matthew McShane and Timothy Payne. Beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews and all were his favorite.   

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Thursday, May 11, 2023 9:00am Church of St. Joseph, 3255 Concord Rd., Aston PA 19014, and to his Funeral Mass, 10am in the Church. Int. SS.
