Michael Harkins, 71, of Springfield, PA passed away on May 20, 2022.
Michael was the son of the late James Harkins and Rita Callahan. He was born in 1950 in Darby, PA and was a lifelong Delaware Country resident. He graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School in 1968 and Villanova University in 1972, where he played football and rowed crew.
Michael spent his career in sales and had the gift of gab, which aided him professionally and in keeping his family and friends in stitches. A lifelong fisherman, he enjoyed decades of fishing at the Ocean City, NJ beaches. A devout Villanova fan, Michael rarely missed a basketball game. He loved spending time with his family and would always keep everyone on their toes with jokes. Michael also became the unofficial family historian through his meticulous research and detailed documentation of his family’s genealogy and colorful stories. Michael will be remembered for his quick wit and love for his family and granddogs.
Beloved husband of Eileen Harkins, loving father to Caroline Harkins of Aston, PA and Sean Harkins of Portland, OR. Michael is survived by his brother James Harkins Jr. of Drexel Hill, PA. Also survived by his brother James (Nancy) Harkins Jr. of Drexel Hill, PA, and his stepbrothers John, Joseph, and Thomas Callahan. He is predeceased by his parents and his stepbrother Robert Callahan. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and more.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation Wednesday, June 22, 2022 9:30am St. Francis of Assisi Church, 136 Saxer Ave, Springfield, PA 19064 and to his Funeral Mass 10:30am in the Church.
