Mary Ann Peebles, 71, of Springfield, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, on Monday, June 29, 2026.
Mary Ann was the daughter of the late R. Donald Edwards and Dolores Edwards (née Cook) and was born in Columbia, Georgia, on August 19, 1954. She graduated from Sharon Hill High School, Class of 1972, and was a lifelong Delaware County resident.
She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family, especially caring for her husband and watching her grandchildren grow. After dedicating herself to raising her family as a stay-at-home mom, Mary Ann began a second career that spanned more than 35 years as the Supervisor of the Food and Nutrition Department at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital. She truly loved her job and was affectionately known as "The Boss" for her unwavering dedication, exceptional leadership, and strong work ethic. Her compassion extended beyond her responsibilities—she created a birthday program for patients, making sure no one spent their special day alone. She personally delivered balloons, a birthday card, and cake to each patient and sang "Happy Birthday," bringing joy, comfort, and a smile to countless people during their hospital stay. Every day, she made sure her hair was perfectly set in curlers and never left the house without her signature mauve-pink lipstick. Mary Ann loved wearing her diamond jewelry, slipping on her fur coat, and riding in her red Cadillac, always carrying herself with confidence and style. She cherished summers in Ocean City, New Jersey, a tradition since she was a young child, and loved relaxing on the beach. She also enjoyed listening to Rod Stewart, dancing at family gatherings, and creating lasting memories with the people she loved. She will be remembered for her love of family, her kindness, her devotion to others, and the countless memories she created with those she loved.
Mary Ann was the beloved wife of the late Timothy Michael Peebles; loving mother of Michael Peebles, Ann Marie Peebles, Marianne Peebles, Donna Peebles-Rivet (Chris), Timothy Peebles, and Danielle Peebles; and cherished grandmother of Alexis, Tyler, Michael Jr., Sarah, Anthony, Zoey, Shane, Aubrey, and Savannah. She is also survived by her siblings, Donna Crawford, Diane Hanson, Dolly Price, Kenny Edwards, and Joseph Edwards; her sisters-in-law, Linda Duell (Brian) and Terri Lewis; and many loving nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Donald Edwards and Robert Edwards, and her brother-in-law, Roy Peebles.
One of the most cherished memories of Mary Ann was during a family trip to Ridley Creek State Park, where her devoted husband carved "TP + MP" inside a heart on a tree as a lasting symbol of his love for his beloved wife.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing on Monday, July 6, 2026, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 136 Saxer Ave., Springfield, PA 19064, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Church. Interment will be at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
