Mary L. (McMenamin) Scott, 68, of Drexel Hill, PA passed away peacefully on August 11, 2024. Mary lived a life marked by love, faith, and unwavering dedication to those around her.
Mary was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary T. (Fitzpatrick) McMenamin and was born in Drexel Hill, PA. She graduated from Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School and Delaware County Community College. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. For 25 years, Mary devoted herself to teaching students in the Parish Religious Education Program (PREP). Over that time, she educated countless children about the Catholic faith and helped them prepare to receive the sacraments. Her commitment to her faith extended beyond the classroom. She volunteered extensively at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, contributing her time to the Giving Tree, serving as an Extraordinary Minister, and supporting the local homeless shelter. Her passion for service and her deep faith were hallmarks of her life.
Mary’s love for her family was evident in all she did. Mary shared 42 beautiful years of marriage with her loving husband, Steven. She was a proud hockey mom to her three sons, cheering them at every game. For as much as she loved being a mom to three boys, she unequivocally opened her heart to her three daughter-in laws, and jumped at the chance to participate in the planning of any bridal or baby shower. Her greatest joy, however, was being Mimi to her five grandchildren. She delighted in spoiling them with affection and making cherished memories that will be treasured by her family. Mimi loved shopping for her grandkids, reading books and telling stories, sneaking them extra TV time, and letting them stay up late eating graham crackers and milk when babysitting. She especially loved her Australian labradoodle, Keva, the moon, the beach, a good cup of tea, a bouquet of asparagus, baking Christmas cookies with her nieces, going to Phillies games, and enjoying a soft pretzel and a cold soda.
Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, her generous spirit, and her unwavering love will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known her. She leaves behind a profound impact on her family, her church community, and everyone whose lives she touched with her boundless compassion and devotion.
Mary is survived by her husband Steven J. Scott; Loving Mother of Steven (Calisse), Brian (Kristy) and Andrew (Corinne); Cherished Grandmother of Madelina, Luke, Camille, Tommy, and Rosalie. Also survived by her siblings, Edward (Carol) and Michael (Kim) McMenamin and was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Saturday, August 17, 2024 10:00am St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3422 Dennison Ave., Drexel Hill, PA 19026 and to her Funeral Mass 11:00am in the Church. Burial Westminster Cemetery, 701 Belmont Ave, Bala Cynwyd, PA 1900.
