Mary T. Ruddy passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025 surrounded by her daughters.
The daughter of the late Patrick and Rose McGill, Mary was predeceased by her sister Peggy Quinn and her brothers Dan and Jack. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Raymond L. Ruddy. They celebrated 60 years of marriage until his death in 2015. February 12 would have been their 70th wedding anniversary and Mary decided to celebrate it with Ray.
Mary was the devoted mother to Kathleen (Phil) Bonini, Suzanne (Mike) Mingis, Nancy Ruddy and Mary Jane Ruddy. A cherished Mom Mom, she adored her grandchildren Kristen (Pete) Copenhagen, Jennifer (Jared) Bookhamer, Michael Mingis, Shannon (Jay) Mistry, Philip (Lauren) Bonini, Jamie (Steve) Smith and Christopher (Jess) Ruddy. She was also an adoring “Gigi” to her great grandchildren Kylie, Madi, Jacob, Jordy, Rosalie, Adelaide, Oliver, Harper, Emily, Forrest and CJ.
Born and raised in Southwest Philadelphia, Mary graduated in 1948 from West Catholic High School. She met her husband at General Electric and they married after Ray’s discharge from the Air Force in 1955.
They were original owners of their home in Briarcliffe where they raised their four daughters. She was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Mary decided to return to the workforce once her children were in school and she worked at Strawbridge and Clothier.
After retirement Mary and Ray were constantly on the go. She traveled and was an active member of Briarcliffe, Collingdale and OLF Senior Citizens. She and her children and grandchildren enjoyed her second home in Wildwood, NJ where they made many happy memories. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and recitals, and celebrating family gatherings and Sunday Football.
Mary loved her home in Briarcliffe and was able to live in her home until she passed away peacefully at home with the support of her daughters, especially Nancy. Mary was appreciative of all people and she lived a full and happy life, always saying “We had a good day”.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Tuesday February 18, 2025 9:30am Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Dr. Secane, PA 19018 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30am in the Church. Burial SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
