Mary Patricia "Patsy" (Blong) Martin

Mary Patricia (nee Blong) Martin, age 73, of Secane, PA passed away peacefully on July 8, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

Mary (aka Patsy) was the daughter of the late James T. and Helen (Gilfedder) Blong.  Mary graduated from Archbishop Prendergast High School and Gwynedd Mercy University.

Beloved wife of Frederick S. Martin, Jr; Loving mother to Kristie and Michael (Amy); Cherished grandmother to Christopher Beyer, Danny Martin, Matt Martin, Frankie Eccles, Kevin Eccles, Emilie Eccles and Mick Martin; Adored sister to Jim (Mag), John (Mary), Tom (Jolene), Bill and Jackie. She was preceded in death by her sister Gerri, sister-in-law Susan and niece Megan. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Mary was a registered nurse at Mercy Fitzgerald for 43 years, 35 years in the emergency room and 8 years in employee health. Early in her career, she ran with Collingdale 1 on the EMS team. In addition to her medical career, Mary obtained her real estate license, was a Eucharistic minister at Holy Spirit and taught CCD at St. Francis. Family was her life and treasured every moment with her grandchildren. Whether it was a school play, graduation, recital, sporting events or simply coloring, painting, or playing games, she enjoyed every minute. She loved to travel and looked forward to the annual vacation in Sea Isle City with her extended, family. At family gatherings, her infamous cheese ball and baked beans were a must. Mary will always be remembered for her infectious smile, positive and encouraging words to all she met, and her calming demeanor.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing, Friday, July 16, 2021 6:30pm and Saturday, July 17, 2021 9:00am St. Francis of Assisi, 136 Saxer Avenue, Springfield, PA, 19064. and to her Funeral Mass 11:00am in the Church. Burial Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
