Mary T. (Friel) Gildea

Mary Teresa Gildea (nee Friel) 92, of Springfield, PA passed away peacefully at home on October 7, 2021

Born and raised in the Swampoodle section of Philadelphia before moving to Upper Darby. Mary attended St. Alice grade school and was a 1947 graduate of West Catholic High School for Girls.  Mary settled in Springfield in 1952. Mary enjoyed scratch-offs, seek & find puzzles and her trips to Sea Isle City with her sister-in-law Mary and spending time at her daughter’s condo in Wildwood. In addition to being an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, she worked at the Rectory for 40 years.

Survived by her daughter Kathleen and husband Noel (Chalie) Mellina, sisters-in-law Joan Gildea and Mary Lou Gildea, along with many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death  by her brothers William, Francis, Matthew, and sister Susan Moak.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Saturday,  October 23, 2021, 9am St Francis of Assisi, 136 Saxer Ave. Springfield, PA 19064 and to her Funeral Mass 11am in the Church. Int. SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
