Mary T. Flynn (nee Maxwell), age 93, of Drexel Hill, PA passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7th, 2025.
Mary was the daughter of the late Catherine and Luke Maxwell and was born in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from West Catholic Girls High School in 1950 and attended some college at St. Joseph’s University. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church in Drexel Hill, PA and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sea Isle City, NJ. Her faith was very strong and an integral part of who she was. Mary spent her career in the airline industry which began in June 1969 until her retirement in August 1996.
She truly loved any time spent with her family and friends of all generations and it was plain to see how much she enjoyed them, and they her. She had a sisterhood of girlfriends which she valued for her lifetime. She loved being in Sea Isle City, NJ, surrounded by loved ones and would enjoy a random drop-in by friends or family who happened to be in the area. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles for pleasure and we would say, she was “sharp as a tack,” a very intelligent woman. Mary kept up with correspondence, writing letters, and always sent out birthday cards to those she cared about. She will be missed immensely by all those whose lives she touched.
Mary is survived by her children Thomas Dougherty, Christopher Dougherty, Claire Graser, and Ann Dougherty, her beloved grandchildren, her many cherished nieces and nephews of both the Maxwell and Dougherty clans and her dearest cousins.
Predeceased by her first husband and father to her children, Thomas J. Dougherty, second husband who was also gone too soon, Donn C. Flynn, and long-time companion Carmen Libertore. Besides her parents Catherine and Luke Maxwell, she was also predeceased by her beloved brothers Walt and Bob Maxwell, and most recently, her son-in-law Timothy J. Graser.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Monday, March 17, 2025, 9:30 at St. Dorothy Catholic Church, 4910 Township Line Rd. Drexel Hill, PA, 19026 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30am in the Church. Int. SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Mary’s name to an organization that was very close to her heart: West Catholic Girl’s Alumnae Association, PO Box 805, Broomall, PA 19008.
