Martha Louise Kemper of Downingtown, PA passed away peacefully on December 7th 2025
Martha “Marty” was daughter of the late Louise Yenser and Malcolm M. Simons Jr. Martha was born in Carlisle, PA. After some time overseas as a young military wife she moved back to PA and was a loving and dedicated mother to her four children. Martha later obtained her paralegal certification and had a 30 year career as a paralegal with the Defenders Association of Philadelphia. Her happy place was the city and she especially loved walking around Philly’s Penn’s Landing area. Martha loved animals and almost always had a pet cat or two in the home during her adult life. She donated to animal shelters regularly. Some of her interests were: reading, a love of the 80’s music scene, astrology, Rod Stewart, Olympic figure skating, Flyers hockey, and, most of all, her Philadelphia Phillies. In her most recent retirement home, she enjoyed BINGO with fellow residents, reading, watching baseball, visits from therapy dogs, and riding her scooter along the outdoor nature path.
Loving Mother to Katy Colvin (Tom) of West Chester PA, and Scott Kemper of Havertown PA. Also survived by her sister, Pamela Jorgensen of Duluth, GA and her brother, William Simons of Lawrence, KS. She is predeceased by her parents and daughters, Teresa Kemper and Lisa Kemper. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be private for immediate family.
