Marie O’Brien, 85, of Springfield passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on August 23, 2020.
She was the beloved wife of the late James O’Brien, Loving Mother to Bonnie (Rich) and Patricia; Cherished Grandmother to Jessica (Mike) Michele (Bill), & RJ (Sara). She was also Great Grandmother to Jocelin. Marie is survived by her sister Joan of Colorado. She is predeceased by her brother Jack. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and more.
Marie was born at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital in Darby. She was raised by her loving grandparents Edward and Sabina Miller in Lansdowne Pa. She graduated from Notre Dame High School and St Joseph’s University.
Marie was a member of St Francis of Assisi parish in Springfield for which she was an active volunteer and substitute teacher for many years. She was also a member of the St. Francis Players Club and participated in many theatrical plays at the church. She resided at Springfield Senior Commons for the last few years where she was involved in many activities and made many new friends, especially her favorite med tech Evelyn. She enjoyed writing poems for special occasions. She enjoyed spending the winter months in Naples Florida with Jim and summer vacations in Ocean City, NJ with Jim, her children, and grandchildren.
At this time given the Covid-19 situation the family is having a private mass & burial. A memorial service to celebrate Marie’s life will be scheduled in 2021.
