Marie Elizabeth (nee Poole) Bowes, 94, of Southwest Philadelphia passed away peacefully at home September 30, 2021.
Born in Philadelphia she graduated from Bartram High School in 1946. Marie had many jobs while raising her family. She was employed by AT&T where she was a long distance operator, The Bulletin and The Federal Reserve Bank from which she retired in 1992. She also worked many years at Saint Clement’s Parish, where she prepared her delicious recipes for the priest. She had many hobbies such as baking, crocheting, growing plants, and hosting parties. She volunteered many hours for parish events and organizations close to her heart such as the Juvenile Diabetic Association.
Beloved wife of the late Francis X. Bowes, loving mother of Marie Cannon, Kathleen McDevitt, Christine Schickling and the late Michael and William Bowes. Cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also survived by her siblings Vincent Poole, William Poole, and Eileen Kelly. She was pre-deceased by the late Clement Poole and Anna Creedon.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing Monday, October 4, 2021, 9 AM Church of Saint Eugene, 200 S. Oak Ave. Primos, PA 19018 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30 AM in the Church. Int. SS Peter & Paul Cemetery.
