Margaret Mary "Margie" McDermott, 85, of Havertown, PA passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026.
Margie was the daughter of the late William and Anne (Dillon) McDermott and was born in Philadelphia, PA.
Aunt Margie was a homemaker and caretaker this was her lifelong responsibility. She cared for her mother and father and all of their friends including aunt Kitty, Ann Broderick and others. She cared for her family members and in-laws with never a complaint. Many of her nieces, nephews and cousins owe their ability to succeed without worry about their parents to Margie being there to care. This was her great contribution to society and family. Truly a remarkable tribute to have served her family for all these years in this role. She has lived on her own for most of the past 10 yrs. and has enjoyed her freedom and taking care of her own home and self.
Special note Margie took over Aunt Mary’s passion of making birthday cakes for all and I mean all of her family including cousins’ nieces’ nephews that’s a lot of cakes!
Margie loved her kitty cats of which there were many over the years. She also loved her doll collection. But most of all she loved her family, her son Johnny Joe and granddaughters Karen and Jennifer.
Margie loved all her nieces and nephews of the Gavin, McDermott, Henderson, Trainor, Rowe and Mulholland side of family too many to mention here whose childhood birthdays were always celebrated with a cake. Margie looked forward to her daily calls with her sister Rita of Oklahoma
Beloved sister of Rita Rowe; Cherished Aunt of Rita Henderson (Bill), Bill (Therese) Gavin, Gerry Gavin, Charles McDermott, William McDermott, Patty Mulholland, Margaret Ann Mair, Lorraine Mair, and the late Anne Trainor (Jack) and Teresa "Terri" Gavin. She is predeceased by her brothers William, Jack, Gerard and sisters Marcella, Patricia, and Theresa.
All are thankful for having Aunt Margie in their life and are happy that she is able to join her family in the afterworld where she will be welcomed.
