Margaret M. "Peg" Maher, 97, of Lima, PA and formerly of Drexel Hill and Wallingford passed away on June 12, 2020

Born in Darby, Pennsylvania in 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edward I. and Alice T. Maher.

Peg came from a family of seven children, two boys and five girls. Surviving members consist of her loving brother Edward Maher of Glen Mills, PA and loving sister Bernadette Leonard of Simi Valley, CA. Predeceased by her cherished twin sister, Betty Maher, brother Frank and sisters Dotsie Maher and Marie Maher. Proud Aunt to eleven nieces and nephews consisting of Philip Maher, Maryanne Meyer (deceased), Betsy Mikkelson, Kate Gutierrez, Gerry Leonard, Kelly O’Keefe, Kevin Maher, Eileen Maher, Joanne Hess, Ned Maher and Marty Maher. Also, many grand nieces and nephews.

Peg graduated from Notre Dame High School in Moylan, PA along with her twin sister Betty. The two were in separable their entire lifetime until Betty passed away in 2011. Peg initially was employed as a secretary for the firm of Day and Zimmerman in Philadelphia and then for over 30 years she served as a secretary with the Boeing corporation located in Ridley Park, PA.

Peg was an avid golfer and she and her sister Betty purchased a home in the Poconos located on a golf course. They would spend many of their weekends there with Peggy enjoying the golf and the two of them enjoying everything that the lovely mountains had to offer. Betty was a secretary for United Airlines. As a result, she and Peg enjoyed free flights to Hawaii, which they enjoyed and took advantage of on many occasions. They also often paid visits to Williamsburg, VA. The two of them were fond of dogs especially poodles and owned several of them. They loved their seafood dinners at the Erin Pub, Olive Garden and Tom Jones. Peg’s loves included cooking, needlepoint, jig saw puzzles and shopping

Peg spent the last two years of her life at Fair Acres in Lima, PA where she received such wonderful, loving care and attention. The staff was especially thoughtful and compassionate during her final illness. Her family will be forever grateful for the loving care they provided.

Due to the pandemic, services and burial will be private with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at St Charles Borromeo in Drexel Hill, PA. Burial will be in the St Charles Cemetery.
