Louis DellaVecchio, Sr. Obituary

Louis J. DellaVecchio Sr., 64, of Rio Grande, NJ, formerly of Clifton Heights, PA passed away January 4, 2022. Lou was born in Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania, to the late Michael Sr. and Anna Marie DellaVecchio (née Facciolo).  He was a graduate of Upper Darby High School class of 1975.

Lou is survived by his beloved wife Susan (nee Pye) and much-adored children Tony (late Jane) Pye, Gene (Amy) Porreca, Dawn (Gil) Gorman; Jennifer DellaVecchio; Nicole (Bob) Cram; Jeana (Joe) Campbell; Louis Jr. (Jackie). Cherished grandchildren Nicholas, Janine, Nathan, Nina, Joseph, Gia, Jake, Mena, and great-grandson Noah. Also survived by his dear siblings, Michael DellaVecchio (Kate) and Rose Ann Mistecka. Lou is also survived by many loved nephews and nieces. He shared a special bond with niece Jody Robinson, who was more like a daughter, and her sons Roland Jr. and Dominic his grandchildren.

Lou was an entrepreneur who was known for his various businesses ventures throughout the years before retiring to New Jersey in 2015. His first company, Lou’s Towing Co., was established right after he graduated from High School. Throughout the years he went on to start many other businesses, such as L&S Catering which included private events, food trucks, managing snack stands at Clifton Heights Swim Club and Briarcliff Swim Club. Luigi’s Water Ice and EAP Auto Parts, to name a few.

He had a strong work ethic in which he instilled in his children.  As a family man, Lou employed members of his family, his friends as well as friends of his children. Family was very important to Lou, he loved being around and spending time with his children, their spouses, and the grandchildren. He cherished the times when the whole family was together.

Lou was very social and known for his big presence which included a loud voice and infectious laugh. He was generous and caring and would help anyone, and if he couldn’t do it himself, he knew someone who could. Lou liked keeping busy, he was a volunteer fireman for Good Will firehouse. He also enjoyed driving, he loved riding his Harley and going on long leisurely car rides. He was loved very much by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation Saturday, January 15, 2022, 10 am, O’Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Rd. Springfield, PA 19064 and to his Funeral Service 12pm in the Funeral Home. Burial Private.
