Leonard M. McDevitt, Sr. "Judge" 84 years old of Delaware County, PA. passed on to a greater life after a prolonged battle with Merkle Cell Carcinoma, a rare form of skin cancer on July 24, 2023. He was surrounded by his children who genuinely loved him and stayed true to his wishes. Dad, Lenny, Big Len, Big Frank, Grand Pop, Pop Pop, PPop and Uncle Len was born, November 21, 1938, in Philadelphia and grew up in St. Gabes R.C. Parrish in the Greys Ferry section attending South Philadelphia High School.
Leonard is predeceased in death by his parents Sadie and Charles, sisters Ruth and Lorraine, brother John "Jack", wives Diane and Anita. Len is survived by his son Lenny Jr. (Carrie), daughter Michele (Robin) Rundgren, and son Joseph (Kimberly). His adored grandchildren Evan, Cara, Kyle (Ana), Max, Shane, Jesse, Wyatt, Isabella, and Savannah and his great granddaughter Georgie Mae.
Leonard "Judge" moved from Philadelphia after marrying Anita and was an instrumental part in creating and shaping the wonderful neighborhood of Briarcliffe in Darby Township. Rooting himself in the community he became an influential part of changing the culture of this wonderful neighborhood. In 1975, Lenny was elected as a District Judge (Magistrate) and served his community until 2003. He retired not only from his District Justice position but also from his full-time position with the Delaware River Port Authority where he was employed from 1960 through 1968 and 1972 through 2003. Len’s personality was infectious, earning him the respect of the community and enabling him to create lifelong friendships. He retired with his beloved wife Diane to the Rehoboth beach area of Sussex County, DE, where they enjoyed 20 years together in a community surrounded by close friends and relatives.
Judge McDevitt is best known for his loyalty, fairness, true to his word and as the hardest working man in Delaware County.

Springfield, PA 19064 and Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2023 10am Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Dr. Secane, PA 19018. Funeral Mass Tuesday 11am in the Church. Interment SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
