Kevin J. Lyons, 83, of Springfield, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lincoln, Massachusetts, Kevin was the son of the late John and Ann Lyons. He graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in 1960, earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education from the University of Massachusetts in 1964, and later completed both his Master of Arts (1971) and Doctor of Philosophy (1975) at the University of Maryland Graduate School.
Kevin proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he devoted more than 40 years to higher education as a respected faculty member
and administrator at Thomas Jefferson University. Throughout his distinguished career, he served as Associate Dean in both the College of Health Professions and the College of Graduate
Studies, and as Director of the Center for Collaborative Research. A prolific author, Kevin contributed to numerous medical journals and was widely admired for his commitment to
advancing academic excellence.
A devoted Boston sports fan, Kevin never missed an opportunity to cheer on his hometown teams. He cherished time spent with his family and close friends, loved relaxing on Cape Cod,
and pursued his lifelong passion for traveling the world.
Kevin is the loving father of Margaret Hausman; Patrick Lyons; and Bridget Rodgers, and father-in-law of Matt Hausman and Michael Rodgers. He was predeceased by his son, Brendan Lyons.
He is the cherished grandfather of Ryan, Madison, Ashley, Ava, Lily, Ronan, and Max.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor Kevin on Monday, December 1st, 2025 Viewing beginning at 9:30 a.m. O'Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Rd. Springfield, PA 19064 and to his Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home. Interment will follow at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery.
