Kathleen M. McGinty

Kathleen M. "Kathee" McGinty, 79, of New York, NY passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024. 

Kathee was born May 27, 1945 in Oceanside, CA. The eldest daughter of John J. and Margaret (Hunsberger) McGinty, Kathee was raised in Southwest Philadelphia alongside sisters Karyn, Melinda, and Maribeth. She attended Most Blessed Sacrament Grade School and School of the Holy Child, Sharon Hill, where she served as president of her class. She then went to Temple University, participating in the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority and earning a degree in Sociology. Kathee began her professional career on the Grace Lines cruise ships, where she embraced her love of adventure and travel during college summers. She then spent 13 years with Clairol as Director of Sales before advancing to Senior Vice President of Sales Administration for L’Oréal. In her later years, Kathee was manager of Billy’s, her neighborhood pub, as well as the Park Vendome Condominium.  

For over five decades, Kathee called Manhattan home, immersing herself in the city’s vibrant culture and social scene. She had a passion for movies and celebrity gossip; voraciously read books and the daily New York Times and Post; and was always up for lively conversation over cocktails. Kathee also enjoyed travel, whether visiting friends in Hong Kong and Florida, entertaining in the Hamptons, or spending summers with her family in Longport, NJ. She prided herself on staying on trend and “in the know” and generally being “fabulous.” With her infectious laugh and warm personality, Kathee built relationships everywhere she went. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and elegance, dedication to friends, and love of family.

Kathee is preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret McGinty and sister Karyn (Bahir) Browsh. She is survived by her sisters Melinda (William) Glynn and Maribeth McGinty; niece Alexis (Alex) and nephews Jared and Evan; and countless cherished friends who will miss her deeply. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation Saturday, January 4, 2025, 9:30AM  St. Dorothy Church 4910 Township Line Rd. Drexel Hill, PA 19026 and to her Funeral Mass 10:30AM, in the Church. Int. SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery
