Judge Joseph A Stokes, born May 28, 1952, a lifelong resident of Delaware County sadly left our world on September 5, 2025.
Joseph was a 1970 graduate of Springfield High School and 1975 graduate of Widener University.
He recently retired after 50 years of service with the Commonwealth of PA and 40 years senior partner of Stokes, Mickey & Luke Public Accountants. In addition he served as President of the Philadelphia Chapter PA Social Services Union and PA Workers Compensation Judges Association.
Joe was an avid fan and sports writer for PA Football News that covered PA high school football for 20 seasons. He had a passion for weather forecasting and especially snow. He devoted his life to his family and treated everyone he met as a new member of the family.
Joseph is survived by his wife Sharon Ford Simpson, his four children Joseph, Jessica Rath, Kimberly Wood and Patrick, and his sister Margaret Freeman.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Mary Hughes Stokes, former wife Mary Keiers Stokes and his sister Mary Frances Litzelman.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation, Friday, September 12, 2025 at 9:30am and to his Funeral Mass at 11:00am both at St. Kevin Church, 200 W. Sproul Rd., Springfield, PA 19064.
