With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Joseph E. Shirley of Glen Mills, PA formerly of Springfield, PA, who left us on October 12, 2025, at the age of 52.
Joe was a devoted husband to Colleen and a loving father to his children, Joey and Emma. He is survived by his siblings, Ginny, Edward, Nancy, and Michael; and his parents, Virginia and Joseph.
Joe’s life revolved around Joey and Emma, and he exemplified what it meant to be a dad. He went above and beyond for his children, who knew him as a role model, superhero, and best friend. He coached his kids in many different sports and was admired by the other teammates.
Joe showed the importance of family through his relationships with his siblings and parents. He was the glue of the Shirley family through his humor, love, countless phone calls and he was the “conductor” of family gatherings. He always put family first and made every effort to spend as much quality time with them as possible.
Joe was an amazing husband that made life exciting. He was always up for an adventure, lit up every room, loved unconditionally and wholeheartedly. He meant everything to his wife and is an irreplaceable soulmate, best friend and life partner.
Joe was often described by others as larger than life. If you knew Joe, you had a Joe “story”. His wit and sarcasm were legendary. He was a responsible, successful, loving, generous and caring person with a heart as big as his biceps. He lived his life to the fullest and was grateful for all the relationships that he had. He will be incredibly missed.
