Joseph “Joe” Mongeluzi, a lifelong resident of Westbrook Park, PA, died peacefully on November 26, 2025 at the age of 90 surrounded by his family.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Corinne Ann (nee Brennen), his brother Tony (Sandy), his children Joanne (Jeff), Lisa (John), Anthony (Diane) and Corinne (Chris), grandchildren Joseph, Stephanie, Celia, Jaime, Erin, Sammy, Julie Anne, Ashley, Brennen, Connor and great grandson, Sammy and nieces and nephews.
Joe was born in Southwest Philadelphia on December 20, 1934 to Anthony and Helen Mongeluzzo. He was the oldest of six brothers and sisters. On October 21, 1961, he married the love of his life, Corinne Ann, and they built a life full of love and happiness that spanned over 64 years. Joe was a devoted husband, father, Pop Pop and Great Grandpop. By trade he was a machinist that had mastered his craft. He often was consulted by engineers that marveled at what he could do in the factory that they could not figure out how to do on paper. It was an accomplishment he was so proud of. Joe was a genuine person that made anyone who he was talking to feel important. He instilled the values of hard work, honesty and integrity into his family. His love of sports brought him much joy (or pain) depending on who won or lost. His knowledge of teams, players and stats was unrivaled by most. Sitting down and watching the Flyers, Eagles or Phillies was a favorite pastime of his. Aside from sports, he loved music and dancing. For enjoyment he had a collection of cassette tapes and CD’s that included Elvis, Patsy Cline, Fats Domino, George Strait and Tammy Wynette. He would put on his ear phones and get lost in the music. Joe’s favorite time of year was Christmas. He meticulously decorated the Christmas Tree in the most beautiful way. It was a labor of love that he inherited from his mother and a tradition that has spanned generations. In addition to his love of family, sports, music and Christmas, he had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. He was a devout Catholic and member of Holy Cross Church. He proudly prayed the Rosary every day, which brought him much peace and contentment.
Joe’s life will be celebrated by family and friends on Wednesday December 3, 2025 at 9:15 am at Holy Cross Church 651 E. Springfield Rd. Springfield PA 19064. Mass to follow at 10:30 AM in the Church. Interment Private.
