Joseph E. "Flake" McCalla

Joseph E. “Flake” McCalla, Age 69, of Springfield, PA on March 30, 2023.  Predeceased by his parents George and Helen McCalla (Bradley) and brother Jack.  Survived by his beloved wife of 32 years Donna  (Guerrieri), Devoted father of Chelsea (Greg) Wilent and Joseph McCalla.  Cherished PopPop of Gregory John Jr.  Brother of George (Jean), James (Julie), and Joyce (Jim) Ferry.  Also survived by beloved granddog Rudy, and many nieces and nephews.

Joe was born and raised in Upper Darby attending St. Cyril's and Monsignor Bonner High School.   He began his twenty year bartending career at the Tenth Inning Tavern in 1978, working the dayshift alongside his mother in the kitchen.   He went on to work at the Philadelphia Inquirer as a mailer until his retirement.   He married his wife Donna in 1991, and welcomed his two children, the lights of his life, Chelsea in '92 and Joey in '94.   Joe was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, with his first love being the Philadelphia Eagles as a season ticket holder for many years (700 level Vet).  Joe loved spending all his free time with his grandson Gregory and four legged buddy Rudy.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation Tues. April 4, 2023, 6:00 PM at O'Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield, PA 19064 and Wed. April 5th 2023 at 9:30 AM at St Kevin Church, 200 W. Sproul Road, Springfield PA 19064. Funeral Mass 10:30 AM in the Church.  Burial Private. Donations made to Charity of choice.
