Joseph J. Connelly, Jr

Joseph J Connelly Jr. 89 of Holmes, PA passed away peacefully May 22nd at home surrounded by his family.

Born in Philadelphia, Joe worked at the Navy Yard, General Electric, and retired after 25 years as Facilities Manager/Engineer at the Franklin Mint.

Joe graduated from West Catholic HS in 1951 and was a star football player (but not an avid swimmer). He grew up in South and Southwest Philly and moved out to Ridley Township to raise his family with the love of his life, Shirley.

He was an avid Eagles fan & season ticket holder beginning at Franklin Field.

He was a skilled draftsman (self-taught architect) who used his talents designing and remodeling every home (from Phila to South NJ) thru the years. His biggest personal achievement was drawing up the plans to renovate and build his sanctuary home at Sunray Beach on the Delaware Bay NJ.

Joe was the “master event planner” who organized many parties, cruises, and benefits and he always made sure that “his people including himself” had a good time. Joe was a man of Great Faith, and Longtime Parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Parish.

At the heart Joe loved nothing more than to spend time down the shore with Shirley, his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his dear family & friends.

Joe was the son of the late Joseph J Connelly Sr & Anna C Connelly. The brother of late Donald P Connelly. The grandfather of the late Kristin P Bonner & Marykate Connelly.

Joe is survived by his Beloved wife of 58 years, Shirley R Connelly (Lynch). Children, Patricia A Ondo (Daniel), Joseph J Connelly III (Sheila), Jennifer R Dennehey (Richard). Son-in-law, James J Dennehey.  Sister, Ann P Eisele (Jack). Grandchildren 8, Great Grandchildren 4. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Friday May 26, 2023 9:30am Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Dr. Secane, PA 19018 and to his Funeral Mass 10:30am in the Church. Interment private.
