John Anthony Schmidt, Jr.

John Anthony Schmidt, Jr., also known as 'Uncle Jack,' passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on June 2nd 2026  after a short illness, and was the beloved son of John and Anna Schmidt. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served as a Military Policeman, and later continued his service by driving a bus for the VA hospital. He was also a dedicated employee at PECO Energy Company for 25 years.  He had an adventurous spirit and embraced the feeling of adventure, always ready for the next journey in his RV, and loved skiing.  

John was preceded in death by his parents John and Anna Schmidt and siblings, Genevieve Duffy and Mary Ann Schmidt. He is survived by his nephews, William and Jimmy Duffy; his niece, Mary Ann Maloney and husband Will Maloney, nee Duffy; his grandnephew, Ian Maloney; his grandnieces, Hannah and Madison Maloney; and many cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 11th, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Church, 651 E Springfield Rd, Springfield, PA 19064. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in John's memory.
