John “Zing” Husser, 71, of Secane, PA, originally of Southwest Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2024.
John was born on July 19, 1952, in Valley Forge, PA, to the late Anna Mae Quinlin and John J Husser Sr. of Southwest Philadelphia. He grew up with his late brother Ronald Husser and his sister Nancy (Husser) Montgomery. John was proud of his roots, often sharing stories of his childhood adventures, starting with the street he grew up on, Trinity Street, throughout MBS Parish, Eagle Rock, Mt Moriah Cemetery, and St. Gaberial’s Hall. John instilled the values of hard work in everyone he met and had a long work history that he was truly proud of, starting off selling water (wooder) ice on 59th and Chester, delivering the Globe, a deep fry cook at Uncle Lou’s in Wildwood, working at the Benn on Woodland Avenue, then later in life finding his home and building life long bonds with his family at Meco Construction Co.
John was a proud US Army veteran who served in Vietnam. John received the National Defense Service and Vietnam Service Medal, 2 Stars while serving. John was proud of his service and made sure everyone knew of the hardships placed on our veterans while also championing every veteran for the love of their country and fellow man. John never went a day without saluting a flag and seeking out military members to welcome them home.
John was the proud father of Lauren (Husser) Cannon and John J Husser, son-in-law Steve Cannon, and daughter-in-law Katrina Keenan. Super proud Grandfather to Steven Cannon Jr, Joseph Cannon, John Husser Jr, and Natalya Boucaud. He is also survived by his sister Nancy (Husser) Montgomery, Sister-in-Law Roe Husser, Nephews; Ronald Husser Jr, Ryan Montgomery, David Kirkner, and Nieces; Kimberly (Husser) Kirkner and Nicole Husser. He is predeceased by his wife, Theresa Husser, his brother, Ronald Husser, and his parents, Anna and John Husser.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Celebration of Life on May 5, 2024, from 11 am – 1 pm at New Orleans Park Apartment Clubhouse, 943 South Ave, Secane, PA 19018.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations in his name to the Clifton PAL Organization, which he cherished because of the endless memories they provided to him while watching his grandsons come up through the program and/or the Eagles Autism Foundation, who he was a proud contributor to for his grandson.
