John J. Dugan, Jr. “Jack,” (75) of Springfield, PA passed away peacefully on May 16, 2025.
Raised in Secane, PA, Jack was the son of the late John J. Sr. and Doris (Smeltzer) Dugan. Jack was the beloved husband, and Highschool Sweetheart of Patrica A. (McKeon) and Father to the light of his life Emily B. Dugan. Predeceased by his older sister, Dianne Dugan, he will be greatly missed by his brothers, Christopher Dugan, Johnathan Dugan, Robert (Eija) Wilson, and all of his extended family and friends.
A 1967 graduate of Cardinal O’Hara Highschool, Jack took his passion for education to the highest level. Graduating from Villanova University (BSBA) in 1971, Babson College (MBA) Summa Cum Laude, in 1973, then Temple University (PhD) in International Business in 1984. His love of education did not stop there, he carried on to then instruct at both Villanova University and Widener University until his retirement.
Jack always enjoyed traveling the world, and documenting his travels through his love of photography. He traveled with his sweetheart to England, Ireland, France, and Italy. He spent a month in India, working on his doctoral dissertation, an adventure many can only dream of. Jack always looked forward to summer vacations in Cape May, NJ with his family and friends, and was known to be the life of the party. Whether it was dancing to the Beatles, or reading The Night Before Christmas, Jack had a way of bringing everyone together to celebrate any occasion.
A Delco native through and through, he very much enjoyed his sports teams and BBQs. A lifelong Eagles and Phillies fan, he would often sit with the TV on mute and radio blasting listening to his ball games. When he wasn't watching sports, he was keeping up with ALL of the world's politics and news events. All the way from braiding his daughter's hair for school, to supporting her starting her own business, not once was he anything but 100% enthusiastic. A lover of everything good in the world, Jack was one of the most compassionate, intelligent humans to grace this planet. That's who Jack was, a pretty cool dude and the original “Girl Dad.”
His loss will be a tough one for anyone who knew him.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation Saturday May 24, 2025 10am O'Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Rd. Springfield, PA 19064 and to his Funeral Service 11:30am in the Funeral Home.
