John J. "Jack" Cassidy, Sr 91, of Secane, PA passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2023
Jack was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Crumlish) Cassidy. Jack graduated in 1949 from Southeast Catholic High in Philadelphia. Upon high school graduation, Jack enrolled into the Steamfitters Apprenticeship, and was an active member in UA Local 420, for the last 73 years.
While newly enrolled into the Steamfitters Apprenticeship, Jack’s country came calling, and he was drafted into the Army. Jack proudly served in the U.S Army during the Korean War, from 1952-1954 and was stationed in Alaska.
Jack was a founding member of Saint Eugene Parish in 1955 and was an active parishioner his entire life. He and a team of fellow workers volunteered their time and weekends to convert the former church into what is now present day, Saint Eugene’s gym.
Additionally, Jack was a proud founding member of the Clifton Heights, P.A.L., where he devoted decades of his life coaching and volunteering. Jack is also among a few proud recipients of the P.A.L. award. Above all, at the heart, Jack was a family man. After his retirement in 1994, Jack spent countless summers at the seashore and found pleasure going to grandkid’s sporting events and an endless stream of family parties.
Beloved husband of Anne C (Carey), to whom he was married for 69 years (June 6, 1953). Nancy (to her family and friends) cared for Jack with patience and kindness in his last few months. Devoted father of Michael (Barbara), Daniel (Kathy), John (Joy), Nancy Light (Thomas), William (Nancy), James (Annemarie), Butch (Dawn). Cherished Grandfather of 22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren (and one on the way). Jack is predeceased by his brother Thomas and sister Patricia Louden. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Springfield Rd., Springfield, PA 19064, and Friday March 24, 2023 9:30am St. Eugene Church, 200 S. Oak Ave. Primos PA 19018. Funeral Mass 10:30am in the Church. Int. SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Saint Eugene Parish or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
