John "Jack" F. Braconnier, 94, of Springfield, Pa passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025.
Jack was the son of the late Leon and Cecilia (Mahaney) Braconnier, and born in Spencer, Mass. He joined the Navy at the age of 17. Married the love of his life, Joan O'Hara in 1955. He transferred to the Air Force in 1957, and in that year, they began their family, which eventually numbered six children. The Air Force took the family all over the country, with Jack serving until the conclusion of the Korean War. His specialty was Explosives Ordinance Disposal, where he achieved the rank of Senior Master Seargent.
In 1969, Jack retired and decided to pursue his college education at West Chester University. He graduated at the age of 44 with his bachelor's degree in criminology. He started as a security guard at the Franklin Mint and retired as Director of Security. Jack loved Philly Sports, in spite of being born in new England. Jack was a self-made handyman which was helpful when they purchased their homes, especially his favorite in Stone Harbor, NJ. "I know a guy", was not a part of his vocabulary. You could always find him up on a ladder or under a house trying to accomplish all the items on his honey-do lists that Joan provided!
He was a long-time member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Springfield where he put all 6 children through SFA school. Jack was a member of the Knights of Columbus, San Domingo Council, Boy Scout Leader, VFW and the LaSalle Social Club to name a few. But his family was his most cherished accomplishment.
Devoted husband of Joan, for just shy of 70 years; loving Father to Joan Marie (Tom) Curtis, Jack (Susanne), and Stephen. Predeceased by his 3 youngest children; Laurie Schol, Jimmy, and Paul who all died well before their time. "Poppie" was a cherished Grandfather to 16 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren, and 2 on the way. Brother-in-law to Elizabeth Haegele and "Favorite" Uncle to many, many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Friday, August 1, 2025 10am St. Francis of Assisi Church, 136 Saxer Ave. Springfield, PA 19064 and to his Funeral Mass 11:30am in the Church. Int. SS.
