Joanne M. (Hickey) Huggard

Joanne Huggard, 79, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025.

Joanne was the daughter of the late Margaret and Joseph Hickey and was born in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in Moylan, PA. After graduating from high school she started a long and illustrious career at Boeing Vertol, while raising her family. Joanne would go on to have an amazingly successful career before retiring after almost 50 years. She traveled the world and the Boeing friendships and mentorships she formed were relationships she valued immensely.

Joanne married Joseph Patrick Carroll and together they had Katie (passed away at 2 years old), Aimee, and Joseph. Joanne’s first husband, Joe, died after 19 years of marriage, and Joanne raised Aimee and Joey while building her growing career with Boeing.

Joanne would meet her second husband, James Huggard, in her happy place, Avalon, NJ, and they would marry and spend over 30 years together, before Jim passed.

Joanne and her family enjoyed summers at the shore with family and friends and cherished these relationships.

Joanne loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren and was proud of their many accomplishments.

Loving Mother to Aimee Ellis (John), Joe Carroll (Lauren), step mother to Lisa Drakeley (John). Also survived by her siblings, Michael Hickey, Kevin Hickey and Margie Boone. Joanne was the beloved MomMom to Jack, Megan, Colin and Casey Ellis; Conor and Shannon Drakeley. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and more.

Services are private.
