James "Jimmy" R. Samar

James “Jimmy” R. Samar, 64, of Springfield, PA, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Jimmy was the son of the late John and Mary Samar of Aldan, PA. He graduated from Lansdown-Aldan High School and was a member of Saint Joseph’s Parish. His greatest passion in life was being a father and grandfather. He raised three daughters, and loved taking them down the shore, coaching their sports teams and never missed a lacrosse game or cheerleading competition. He was a kind and gentle “Pop” who was known for sneaking sweets to his grandchildren. In his younger years, Jimmy was a skilled baseball player, and continued his love for the game by coaching, umpiring, and watching Phillies games with his mom. He enjoyed going to rock concerts, fishing, spending time with his big family during the holidays, being of service to others and caring for his beloved dogs, Jake, Sophie, Abby and Reptar.  

Loving Father to Lauren DePaul, Megan Samar (Nazz Rapone), Mary Samar, and father-in-law to Joseph DePaul; Cherished Grandfather to Joey DePaul, Jackson DePaul, Sloane DePaul and Dakota Rapone. Beloved family of Cecelia Hoffmann. Also, loving Brother to Janet Hemple, John Samar, Michael Samar, Patty Engel, Ellen McGoldrick and Joanne Porcellini. He is predeceased by his father and mother who passed on before him. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and more.
