James N. Walsh, Sr. (Jim), 80, of Kennett Square, PA, formerly of Aston, PA, passed away unexpectedly on May 7, 2024.
Jim is the beloved husband of Rose K. Walsh (Hasson) of 58 years, loving father to his 4 children, James N. Walsh, Jr.(Lynn), Colleen M. Griffin (David), Christine R. Harvey (Gregory) and Lisa M. Walsh (Frank Campese), cherished Pop-Pop to his 8 grandchildren, Jessica L. Walsh, James N. Walsh, III (Claire Nappi), Kyle J. Sullivan, Alyssa R. Bonatsos, Kylee N. Harvey, Nicolette J. Walsh, Steven J. Bonatsos, Jr., and Shannon C. Harvey, and adoring Pop-Pop-Pop to his great-granddaughter, Harper Shae Walsh.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Charles B. Walsh, Sr. and Anne V. Walsh (O’Neill), his sister, Margaret A. Sheridan, and his brother-in-law, Thomas A. Sheridan. He is survived by his brother, Charles B. Walsh, Jr. (Kathleen), and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jim was born in Philadelphia on December 25, 1943 (our Christmas baby) and was raised in the Drexel Park section of Drexel Hill where he attended Holy Child Academy, Monsignor Bonner High School and graduated from Lincoln Preparatory School. Jim went on to proudly serve in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged in 1970. Jim and his loving wife, Rose, planted their roots and raised their 4 children in Springfield. He was a longtime volunteer board member and football coach for the Springfield Spartans. All 4 of his children and Rose were involved in the organization which allowed them more time together as a family and countless memories made.
Providing for his family was a top priority throughout his life. He spent most of his career as an Owner/Manager at his family envelope company. His work ethic was like no other, exemplified by the fact that he worked part-time as a parts delivery driver for Infiniti of West Chester until he was 80 years old.
Jim’s greatest joys in life were his 8 grandchildren and his great granddaughter. He loved attending all their games/events and rarely missed. Jim had a list of lifelong friends with whom he still regularly spent time with. The bond and the memories made with these friends is something he cherished dearly.
Jim’s “Rosie,” his children, his grandchildren, his trip to Ireland with Rose, Dewars, cigars, breakfast, prime rib, cars, Blue Bloods, Notre Dame Football, Sinatra and family vacations in Avalon were just a few of his favorite things.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation Friday, May 17, 2024 9:30am St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 430 Valleybrook Road Glen Mills, PA 19342 and to his Funeral Mass Friday 10:30am in the Church. Burial private.
