James Joseph Dougherty, 62, of Gibbstown, NJ passed away peacefully on April 3, 2021.
Jim was born on June 29, 1958 in Malvern, PA the son of Dorothy Dougherty Murray and the late Joseph C. Dougherty. A 1976 graduate of Great Valley High School, Jim proudly served his country in the US Air Force where he earned a bachelor’s degree. He enjoyed a long career in education and recently retired from his position as middle school math teacher in Camden, NJ.
An avid Philadelphia sports fan, his love of both playing and watching sports made him a tremendous coach to his sons and countless others in his community. He enjoyed golf, poker nights, camping trips, beach vacations, yard sales, and above all else, spending time with his children, grandchildren and large, extended family.
Jim was the devoted father of Joe (Kelly), Patrick (Carole) and Jake Dougherty. Loving Pop-Pop of Ruby, Claire, Eloise and Lupine, cherished son of Dorothy “Dot” Dougherty Murray. He is also survived by his loving siblings; Carol (Thomas) O’Leary Jr., Joseph Dougherty, Dorothy (Chris) Wagner, Anne (Harry) Shelton and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation, Friday, April 9, 2021 10:00am St. Patrick Church, 126 Woodland Ave. Malvern, PA 19355 and to his Funeral Mass Friday 11:00am in the Church. Burial Calvary Cemetery. Contributions to St. Patrick Church, 126 Woodland Ave. Malvern, PA 19355.
