James Joseph Clavin, Sr, 87, of Glenolden passed away peacefully on April 27, 2021.
James was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Nolan) Clavin of Southwest Philadelphia. He graduated from West Catholic High School for Boys in 1951 and was an active member of their class alumni committee. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a member of the DuPont Country Club for over 60 years. He retired from E.I. DuPont Marshall Laboratory after 40 years of service. He enjoyed every opportunity to spend time with his family and friends sharing his warm smile, his Irish charm, his knack for storytelling and his Uncle Jim jokes. He was also an avid golfer with an amazing FOUR hole-in ones. He often joked that it was easier to shoot his age as he played into his 80s.
Beloved husband to the late Joan (Willis) Clavin; Loving Father to Theresa Clavin; James (Wendy) Clavin, Jr; Mary (Michael) Ganley and Thomas Clavin; Cherished Grandfather of James and Jack Clavin as well as Michael, Colleen and Meghan Ganley. He is predeceased by his sisters Margaret Stellman, Jean Keenan, and Nancy Harris as well as his brothers Thomas and Joseph Clavin. He is also survived and remembered fondly as "the Best of the Best" by his many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing on Monday, May 3rd at 9am, O’Leary Funeral Home, 640 E. Springfield Rd., Springfield, PA 19064, and to his Funeral Mass 11am Our Lady of Fatima, 1 Fatima Drive, Secane, PA 19018. Int. SS Peter and Paul Cemetery.
