Frank J. Ward, Jr.

Frank J. Ward Jr., 84, of Swarthmore, PA passed away peacefully on March 17, 2023, surrounded by his family. 

Frank (Pumpkin) was the son of the late Frank Sr. and Frances (Doyle) Ward.  He was born and raised in West Philadelphia, PA where he was a 1956 graduate of St. Thomas More High School. He married his beloved wife of 61 years at Our Lady of Angels Church, and they later moved to Southwest Philadelphia where they happily raised their four children.  Frank was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in the Naval Security Division and later aboard the USS Forrestal.  He then worked for the City of Philadelphia – Fairmount Park for 33 years.  He loved telling stories of his life to anyone who would listen, especially about his upbringing in West Philadelphia, the Navy, and working days in Fairmount Park.

He was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and loved his daily crossword puzzles.

Beloved husband of the late Anna L. (DiBaptistis); Proud father of Frank III (Carol), John (Kimberly), Michael (Maureen), and Peggy (James Cantando) Ward; Cherished Grandfather of Danny, Johnny (Kayla), Adriana, Nicole, Michael, and Katie and great grandfather of Raelynn. 

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation Friday, March 24, 2023 10:00AM O'Leary Funeral Home 640 E. Springfield Road  Springfield, PA  19064 and to his Funeral Service 11:00AM in the Funeral Home.  Int SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
