Frances Rayer (Lynskey) passed away peacefully at home on July 31, 2023 at the age of 96. Frances was born to Joseph and Margaret Lynskey in South Philadelphia PA on May 31, 1927. She graduated from John W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High School in 1945. Her brother Joseph introduced her to Mike Rayer whom she married on September 3, 1949. They shared 59 years together living in Glenolden PA where they raised their 3 children Michael, Peggy, and Frances. After her loving husband Michael died in 2008, Frances moved into her daughter Frances’ home where she happily lived until her death.
While raising her children, Frances worked at Darby Township Elementary School as a secretary and later for Professional Health Services until she and Mike retired. Mike and Frances shared many wonderful vacations in Ocean City with their children and grandchildren and made lifetime memories. Frances was an avid Mummers fan and danced many a Mummer’s strut on Broad Street and 2nd St in South Philly. She loved visiting the casino! Family forced her into loving the Phillies and Eagles. She had no choice but to watch, and she loved them, as long as they were winning.
Frances is predecessed by her loving husband Michael and her brother Joseph. She is survived by her 3 favorite children Michael (Maryanne), Peggy (John) and Frances, her grandchildren Sean (Kitty), Ryan (Colleen), Colleen (Kevin), Laurey, Lynda (Matt), Katie and Caroline (Ryan) and 13 great grandchildren Maeve, Fallon, Paige, Brayden, Cate, Reese, Quinn, Garrett, Michael, Charlie, Chase, Luke, and Finn. She is also survived by her sister Margaret and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Viewing Friday, August 4, 2023 9:30AM St. Rose of Lima Church, Chester Pike at Simpson St Eddystone, PA 19022 followed by a Funeral Mass 10:30AM in the Church. Burial will be at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery Springfield PA.
