Mr. Ferdinand J. Canale was born on September 6, 1928, in Trenton NJ. He grew up in Southwest Philadelphia on Edgewood Street. He attended Junior High School and then went on to become a carpenter. He was also a handy man. “Ferdy” or Fred, as he was known to his friends, would buy, refurbish and sell antique furniture. He worked at the Navy Yard for some time. Later in life Ferd was a concierge for the Philadelphia Eagles, where he met and made many wonderful new friends. He also had many of his old school friends, who he grew up with in Southwest Philadelphia. He had many a funny story of the old days with his friends who lived in the neighborhood, because when you lived in Philly it was all about the neighborhood or the Parish you lived in. Ferd was a member of Club 7, Club 62 and the Knights of Columbus.
Ferdinand was married to the late Claire Scocca, and they enjoyed life together. They had many good times with friends and family. They loved traveling to Brigantine where they had a beautiful shore house which they both enjoyed. Ferdinand also enjoyed going to the Casinos and getting all of the free giveaways that he obtained from enjoying the slots. Anyone who knew Fred knew he LOVED getting something for free.
Ferd aka Uncle Ferd/Pop was everyone’s favorite uncle/pop. He enjoyed making wine, growing tomatoes, tending to his fig tree and watching the Eagles and Phillies.
Ferdinand is survived by his sister Christine Pratico, his nieces and nephews, Jayne, Anne (Kurt), Gregory and Joanne (Jere). His great nephews Kyle, Brett, Carmen (Lexi), Gregory, Anthony (Heather) and Joseph. His Grandchildren, Joseph (Karen) Christopher and Sean. His Great Grandchildren Gabrielle, Alexandria, Joseph and Michael.
Ferdinand is preceded in death by his parents Pasquale and Antionette Canale, his brother Dominic Canale, his wife Claire Canale, his grandson Daniel Scocca, his brother-in-law Carmen Pratico and sister-in-law Doris Canale.
